Why It Matters
A function room changes
what your group can do.
For company outings, org events, and family reunions, having a proper function room is the difference between a scattered day trip and a structured, memorable event. But "may function room" in a resort's description can mean a lot of different things — and knowing what to look for saves the organizer a lot of headaches on booking day.
It anchors the program
A dedicated indoor space means your team building activities, presentations, and program proper have a home. No more figuring out where to seat 60 people for the welcome remarks.
Weather backup for outdoor trips
Even for barkada and family outings, a covered function room means rain doesn't ruin the day. Games, programs, and merienda can all move inside without killing the energy.
Capacity varies a lot
Some resorts have a function room that fits 30 people comfortably. Others can seat 150 with a stage. The amenity name is the same — but the experience is completely different. Always confirm capacity before you commit.
Who It's For
Groups that need structure,
not just a pool.
Company · HR · Team Leads
Company Outings & Team Building
Company events need a program, and a program needs a room. Whether it's a luncheon, an awarding ceremony, or a training workshop, a proper function room lets HR run the event with confidence — no improvising where to seat leadership.
Org · School · Batch
Org Outings & Batch Reunions
Org outings often include a general assembly, recognition segment, or hosted games. Having a function room means you can run a real program, not just scatter everyone around the pool hoping they'll participate.
Family · Reunion
Family Reunions & Celebrations
When the whole pamilya comes together — lolo, lola, the kids, and everyone in between — a shaded, air-conditioned function room means the elderly can stay comfortable while the kids swim, and everyone gathers for the program without the heat.
Before You Book
Questions to ask every resort
✓ Ask the resort directly
- ✓ Is the function room included in the package, or is there a separate rental fee?
- ✓ What is the room's capacity — seated, cocktail, and theater setup?
- ✓ Is the function room air-conditioned, or is it an open-sided pavilion / covered area?
- ✓ What AV equipment is available — projector, screen, microphone, sound system?
- ✓ Can you bring outside food or catering, or does the resort require in-house meals?
- ✓ Is there a stage, a podium, or a raised platform for programs?
- ✓ Can the room be set up the night before, or only on the day itself?
⚠ Common surprises to avoid
- ✗ Booking a resort where the "function room" is an open kubo — no AC, no walls, no sound control
- ✗ Room capacity listed for cocktail style, but your group needs full classroom or banquet setup
- ✗ No AV equipment available — and you find out the morning of your company presentation
- ✗ Separate room fee not included in the per-head quote — suddenly the budget doesn't fit
- ✗ Function room double-booked with another group on the same day
- ✗ Outside catering not allowed, and in-house meal options don't fit the group's needs
